Yellowfin Tuna fishing is very good offshore as well as close to home. Water temps are holding and pelagic species are staying close to home well into the fall. Mix of yellowtail, dorado, bonito and more. Still have some openings this month.
Offshore local banks are hit or miss the past few trips with yellowtail, dorado and yellowfin hanging around the banks. Rising water temps should push up with pelagics heading up the line making for great offshore fishing. Local trips have been calico bass, barracuda, rockfish, a few leopard shark and black sea bass with yellowtail in the area as well. Half days are wide open recently with 100+ fish!!
While filming with the Nat Geo crew for an upcoming specials on Blue Whales, we caught two Bluefin tuna that popped up by the boat offshore. Both Bluefin weighed in at 50lbs and we lost another that was well over 100lbs! Fishing is looking really solid the rest of the summer with Dorado and Yellowtail showing up offshore in schools.
Still Excellent Yellowtail, Bonita and Barracuda fishing at the islands! Local fishing is light action fishing for bass, rockfish and more!
Excellent yellowtail and Barracuda Fishing at the Coronado islands today and all last week! Half days are wide open Calico bass fishing with a few barracuda mixed in.
San Diego Fish Counts: 3/4 Day Coronado Islands

Fishing Trip to the Coronado Islands over the weekend was good! The water is still cold and off color from the wind, but we still caught one nice 20lb Yellowtail 4 legal lingcods and lots of other bottom fish. Have some openings in June. Get and out get fishing!
Fish Reports San Degio May 2018:
Lots of wind and a ripping current made conditions tough but still managed a nice yellowtail on the iron and a 125 pound Thresher Shark plus lots of short Barracuda. Weather looking great the next few weeks and fishing is heating up. Get out on the water with us today!
Offshore is hit or miss. It can be wide open on bait poppers and lures to a picky bite on 15 pound test and small hooks. Mostly schoolie yellowfin and some nice dorado mixed in!
Local trips have some big yellowtail and bonito. We also released a 200 pound black Seabass (not pictured). Island fishing is mostly big bonito with some nice sized yellows mixed in.
Limits of yellows at the islands and good yellowtail fishing locally! Big dorado on offshore kelp on full day trips with limits as well!
